- Di tahun 2022, di saat sebagian pengguna layanan seluler dunia sudah mulai merasakan jaringan 5G, namun lebih banyak yang masih bergantung pada jaringan 4G atau LTE. Mungkin banyak dari mereka yang menganggap 4G dan LTE adalah dua hal yang sama. Namun pada kenyataannya, kedua jaringan tersebut merupakan dua hal yang sebenarnya, apa beda antara 4G dan LTE? Apa itu LTE LTE adalah singkatan dari Long-Term Evolution, suatu standar jaringan yang diajukan operator seluler asal Jepang, NTT Docomo pada 2004 lalu. Jaringan LTE lantas semakin dilirik operator seluler beberapa tahun kemudian, hingga akhirnya distandarisasi oleh badan standar internasional 3GPP 3rd Generation Partnership Project sekitar 2008 lalu. Karena hadir setelah 3G, LTE bisa dibilang merupakan jaringan dengan teknologi 3G yang kapabilitasnya ditingkatkan tanpa teknologi 4G, namun belum mampu mencapai standar kemampuan jaringan 4G. Biasanya, jaringan LTE dipasarkan oleh operator seluler dengan nama berbeda, bisa 4G LTE, LTE-A, dan lain sebagainya. Apa itu 4G Sementara itu, 4G Fourth Generation merupakan penerus dari jaringan 3G yang memiliki kualitas jaringan yang lebih mumpuni. Jaringan ini sendiri sempat menjadi perdebatan dan kebingungan pada saat Badan Telekomunikasi Dunia International Communication Union/ITU mengumumkan standar 4G pada 2008 lalu.
